Pasierb leaving The Toy Association next year
The Toy Association announced President and CEO Steve Pasierb will step down from his role in April 2024.
“It has been a wonderful journey of strategic actions, change management, legislative wins, and accomplishments working alongside our dedicated board, more than 1,000 members, and a passionate and talented professional team,” said Pasierb.
Pasierb has led the group since April 2015. He previously spent 22 years at the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, where he held roles including president and CEO, executive vice president, director of field operations and strategic alliances and senior vice president and state alliance program director.
Executive recruitment firm Spencer Stuart will assist in the search for Pasierb’s successor.
Fraser to exit public health group next year
Michael Fraser, CEO of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, announced on his LinkedIn page that he will be leaving the group March 1, 2024, to helm the College of American Pathologists. He will start at CAP March 11.
Fraser has led ASTHO since August 2016. Previously, he was CEO and EVP of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and CEO of the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs.

Crowley tapped to lead biotechnology organization
The Biotechnology Innovation Organization announced John F. Crowley will be its new president and CEO, effective March 4. He will succeed Rachel King who has led the group on an interim basis since the resignation of Michelle McMurry-Heath in October 2022.
“Having worked alongside John for many years, I can attest to his unwavering commitment to patients. He possesses a lifelong dedication to service, whether fighting for his country, wisely negotiating on behalf of our companies in Congress, or advocating in hospitals on behalf of his children and patients with rare disease,” said BIO Board Chair Dr. Ted W. Love.
Crowley co-founded biotech company Novazyme Pharmaceuticals in 2000 after two of his children were diagnosed with Pompe disease. He later founded and was CEO of pharmaceutical company Orexigen Therapeutics before starting Amicus Therapeutics, where he has been CEO since 2005. Crowley is also a former officer of the U.S. Navy Reserve.
He has a bachelor’s degree in international economics from Georgetown University, a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School and a law degree from Notre Dame Law School.

Milhorn named CEO of state bank supervisors
The Conference of State Bank Supervisors announced Brandon Milhorn succeeds James M. Cooper as president and CEO, effective Dec. 4. Cooper has led CSBS since June 2022 following the death of longtime CEO John Ryan.
“Brandon brings a unique blend of relevant experiences, valuable networks and reputation, and the leadership skills necessary to meet the high expectations we have of our next leader, established with extensive input from all CSBS members and staff, that will allow CSBS to realize its full potential,” said CSBS Board Chair and North Dakota Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Lise Kruse.
Milhorn was most recently deputy to the vice chairman at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, where he spent over four years. Earlier in his career, he also held leadership roles at Raytheon. He also founded his own consulting firm, ConOps.
He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from East Tennessee State University and a law degree from Cornell Law School.

Bank Policy Institute—Ken Troshinsky has joined philanthropy nonprofit Good360 as chief financial officer. He was most recently chief operating officer at the Bank Policy Institute. Earlier in his career, he was senior vice president and CFO of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, CFO of education reform at Achieve, Inc., and director of institutional advancement and strategic planning at the Children’s Defense Fund.
Semiconductor Industry Association—Jimmy Goodrich has joined think tank RAND Corporation as senior adviser for technology analysis. He was most recently vice president of global policy at SIA. Previously, he spent three years as director of global policy and China programs at the Information Technology Industry Council.

American Psychiatric Association Foundation—Betsy Schwartz has been named director of the Center for Workplace Mental Health, a program of the American Psychiatric Association Foundation. She was previously vice president of public education and strategic initiatives of the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, where she spent eight years. Earlier in her career, she spent 21 years at mental health nonprofit Mental Health America, where she was CEO.
American Society of Association Executives—Susan Marchese has joined ASAE as vice president of marketing. She previously spent eight years at the American Industrial Hygiene Association as head of strategic communications and external affairs. She also spent three years at advertising company Production Solutions, most recently as marketing director.
College of American Pathologists—Kristin L. McDonald has been named vice president of policy and advocacy of CAP. She joins the group from the American College of Surgeons, where she spent 13 years. She was most recently chief of legislative and political affairs at the organization. Previously, she was director of congressional affairs at the American Society of Clinical Oncology and deputy director of the American Psychiatric Association.
U.S. Chamber of Commerce—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has announced two leadership promotions:
Christine Kanuch has been promoted to chief financial officer, effective Jan. 1, 2024. Kanuch joined the Chamber in 1999 as vice president of finance.
And, John Murphy has been promoted to senior vice president and head of international. Murphy also joined the Chamber in 1999, leading the Americas team. In 2008, he became head of trade policy. Most recently, he held the title of senior vice president for international policy.
